How do I convert an Excel file to PDF?
Drop one or more .xlsx files into the box above and click “Convert to PDF”. Your browser opens each workbook, lays out every visible sheet on pages and builds a PDF you can download. One file gives you one PDF. Several files give you a ZIP with a PDF for each workbook, plus a list on the page so you can download them one by one.
You don’t have to change anything for a good result. On Auto, the tool uses the print settings saved in the file: the print area, paper size, orientation, margins, scaling, manual page breaks and the rows set to repeat at the top of every page. If a sheet was never set up for printing, it uses Excel’s defaults, so the PDF matches what Print Preview would show.
Tip: If a wide table spills over two pages, turn on “Fit to page width”. Every column then fits across one page, and long tables still continue onto the next pages.
What does the Beta keep, and what does it leave out?
We built our own small converter instead of sending your file to a server, so here is exactly what to expect:
- Kept: column widths and row heights, hidden rows and columns, merged cells, fill colors including theme colors, borders of every style, alignment, indents, wrapped text, text that runs into empty neighboring cells, rotated text, bold, italic, underline and colored text, even mixed styles in one cell.
- Numbers: number formats, currency formats such as Rupiah, accounting styles, percentages, fractions, dates and times. A number too wide for its column shows as #### just like in Excel.
- Pages: print area, paper size, orientation, margins, scaling, fit to page, page breaks, repeated title rows, page order, gridlines, centering, headers and footers with page numbers.
- Left out for now: charts, pictures, shapes, sparklines and conditional formatting. When a file has them, the result tells you which ones.
Formulas show the value Excel saved with the file. Files saved by Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice always include it. A few apps that create spreadsheets automatically leave it out, and those cells stay empty.
Why convert a spreadsheet to PDF at all?
A spreadsheet changes depending on who opens it. Column widths shift, a different default font wraps lines in new places, and anyone can edit a total by accident. A PDF freezes the table as you meant it: the same pages, the same numbers and the same layout on every phone, laptop and printer.
That matters for documents that leave your hands, such as an invoice for a client, a price list for a shop, a quotation, a report for your manager or a financial statement for the tax office. Many forms and portals also accept PDF only.
Is it safe to convert Excel to PDF online?
Yes. You open this page online, but the conversion runs on your own device. The workbook is read in your browser’s memory, turned into a PDF and handed back as a download. It is never uploaded, which is important for payroll, bank details, prices and customer lists.
You can check this yourself in your browser’s network tab while a file converts: no file data leaves the device. After the first use the tool also works offline. There is nothing to install, no account to create and no limit on how often you use it.
